Agatha d'Ascalle. She's a rising star in the government of Britannia Nova, a proud graduate of Salem (class of '23), and from one of the oldest Wizarding families in the Colonies.
"That's fascinating, dear -- oh, do try one of the cakes. They're Grandmother's own recipe, and I don't really do it justice. ...Oh, you're too kind. Now, you were saying..."
To her family, she's the headstrong spinster daughter ("Dear, you're almost 40, and that Henry Greene is so nice... and apparently infinitely patient.") and the redoubtable and surprising Aunt Aggie ("Wow, where'd you learn to play Quodpot like that?").
"Here, let me freshen your cup, dear. Oh, he didn't really say that to the Junior Minister, did he?
Co-workers are often surprised to find her fingerprints turn up on what appear to be unrelated things, and more surprised to see how she ties things together, whether negotiating with the Old Country or drafting new local regulations. Many are not even quite clear what exactly she does there...
